What is life?

What is life? This art piece was made this year and was just released on youtube. Using the techniques for Light Painting and Stop Motion, it was shot in the time of four nights, and the voice over consists of 15 different peoples voice recordings.
If anyone is interested, we will make a tutorial on how we made the piece.

Dreaming Alone Feeling Together

Dreaming Alone Feeling Together was made last year by Charlotte Hamlyn as part of her Advance Dip studies. The video is an eerie and engaging trip backwards through a surreal version of the world. It breathes another life into the heart symbol, which carries the viewer fluidly through some otherwise extreme edit points and changes of environment.

A really lush and pretty film piece which has technical know-how backing it up.

WELCOME!

ART AND THE MOVING IMAGE AT MAPS FILM SCHOOL

MAPS Film School situated in Adelaide, Australia has been running for over twenty years and is dedicated to training film and TV professionals. This year, we are promoting the other side of film, exploring the possibilities of the web. This blog is dedicated to Video Art and moving image projects made over the years by MAPS students.

[Blogger K-thers]

Hey guys, K-thers here.
I'm a second year students at MAPS. In the two years I've made two 'art' films and edited several others. To be frankly honest, I never thought I'd get into video art, starting off with a bit of stop-motion in high school, then moving onto my first film I made at MAPS, 'The Adventures of Babaloo'. Through my exploration of Video Art, I have come into the realization that I would like to make creative ads. I enjoy pretty things and animations and one day, I want to be an Astronaut!

[Blogger M]

I'm M and have always liked anything to do with the moving image, whether it be film, video art or cinematography in general. I've written a paper on perception and film art and MAPS Film School has helped me extend this interest into practice. In 2011 I directed a video art piece and majored in cinematography at MAPS.
This blog is a way to continue to review and promote inspiring video art and gather together the best of MAPS Film School pieces.
Look out for photography posts, reviews and all kinds of video/film art news...
